About the lab

Open work needs committed stewardship.

Chroniton Labs is a home for engineers who want to advance critical distributed systems without discarding the ecosystems that made them useful.

Why we exist

The gap between a good fix and a shipped fix is often organisational, not technical.

Large upstream projects balance many constituencies, release trains, and definitions of risk. That deliberation protects users, but it can also leave valuable work waiting. We offer another route: focused teams, public development, and the discipline to turn experiments into releases.

Stewardship

Backed by AxonOps.
Built with the community.

AxonOps takes responsibility for sustained engineering, release operations, and the unglamorous work that keeps infrastructure dependable. That role is a commitment to continuity, not a claim to have all the answers.

We want to collaborate with maintainers, operators, and researchers, including the people already demonstrating how these systems can improve. Designs, benchmarks, issues, and code belong in the open, where claims can be tested and better ideas can win.

Chroniton Labs is a proving and release vehicle, not a wall around the work. For every project derived from an Apache project, our intent is to contribute every change back to its source project. Acceptance remains with the upstream community and its public process.

Meet us in the work
01

Be useful

Start with operator pain and working code, not novelty for its own sake.

02

Show the evidence

Publish the benchmarks, constraints, failures, and trade-offs.

03

Send it upstream

Contribute changes to the source Apache projects and work through their public review processes.

04

Stay for maintenance

Shipping is the start of stewardship, never the finish.
