ChronitonDB
A Cassandra-compatible path for meaningful fixes, focused performance work, and operator-led improvements to reach real systems sooner.
Explore the workThe intent
A proving ground for a faster Cassandra.
Cassandra’s compatibility and operational model are valuable. So is the hard-won knowledge of its community. ChronitonDB is being shaped as a place to carry ambitious fixes and optimisations forward while keeping those strengths in view.
Early work by community engineers, including Jon Haddad and Patrick McFadin, demonstrates what focused iteration can unlock. Chroniton Labs aims to give that energy durable stewardship, testing, release discipline, and an open proving ground.
ChronitonDB is not a destination where Cassandra improvements stop. Our intent is to contribute every change back to Apache Cassandra, working through its public review process while giving operators a way to test and benefit from the work sooner.
Compatibility
Protect familiar protocols, tooling, and operating models as the foundation evolves.
Performance
Prioritise measurable improvements that deliver value under real production workloads.
Upstream
Develop in the open and contribute our changes back to Apache Cassandra.
Current phase
The project is taking shape.
Repository structure, contribution paths, compatibility targets, and release plans will be published as they are established. Follow the work to take part early.
